The #MWPC21 brought together communities across all Microsoft 365, Teams, and SharePoint ecosystems, marking the 10th anniversary of Office365.

BitTitan was pleased to sponsor this event, demonstrating the role MigrationWiz has in helping partners and end-users migrate their data to the cloud as part of the digital transformation roadmap.

As we reflect on the conference, we wanted to share some of the things our team learned:

The power of remote work is here to stay

Even in a hybrid world, remote working will remain. The expansion of Microsoft 365 has enabled organisations to connect communication and content management under one unified solution. These advancements have been crucial in fostering greater teamwork and collaboration. In his keynote, Jeff Teper, Corporate Vice President for Microsoft 365 Collaboration with Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive, announced that daily active users on Teams topped 115 million in 2020, and SharePoint reached 200 million users worldwide.

Teper went on to reflect on Microsoft’s progress, calling out a few highlights:

  • Add for OneDrive – a shortcut feature enabling users to easily find content.
  • SharePoint Syntax – allows users to bring artificial intelligence to the business process.
  • Teams Together mode – helping teams feel more integrated through social cues.
  • Teams meeting recaps – allowing employees to prioritise their time in a remote environment.

While we’ll have to wait for the full announcements at Ignite, March 2021, Teper alluded to the fact that there’s a lot more to come. Project Cortex will continue to unfold as Enterprise Wiki sits in preview. SharePoint home sites will develop as a first-class app in Teams to strengthen the extensibility and use of both platforms. And deeper integration across Yammer, Streams, and SharePoint will become available across multiple devices and webinar functions to serve the virtual event community.

Take teamwork to the next level with Teams as a platform

MVPs Chris Howard and Vesa Nopanen explored Teams as a strategic and extensible tool that helps power virtual agents and unleash apps, flows, and reports. This high productivity model allows Teams to act as a base upon which other applications, processes, or technologies are developed. This can help deepen interrelationships between disparate and siloed apps, fill the gaps in functionality, and create new revenue streams for businesses.

Good governance underpins a sustainable digital workplace

Kimberly Morrison, Digital Platforms Lead at Aurecon, showed that governance doesn’t have to be a set of rules and restrictions that hinder innovation. Instead, governance helps IT teams collaborate and make more effective decisions, maximising benefits, and minimising risk.

A few of her top considerations for a sustainable framework include:

  • Understand the motive behind digital transformation and decide what are the most important tools to integrate.
  • Allow and encourage room for growth.
  • Prepare for all possible outcomes and set a contingency plan.
  • Keep your organisation’s culture top of mind.

Digital transformation is the future

Harnessing the right tools, resources, and expertise enables organisations to adopt a more unified, secure, and collaborative solution. One way to do this is to enlist the help of Microsoft-certified consultants to maximise efficiency and value in the cloud. Didier Zeitoun, President of Magellan Partners, reinforced the importance of remaining shoulder-to-shoulder with Microsoft as they continue to invest in modern workplace solutions that are based on tangible data and artificial intelligence.

There are multiple elements within digital transformation. Migration is a core piece of that puzzle. BitTitan is proud to be a trusted partner, facilitating cloud adoption and consolidation worldwide. During the conference, we showcased our collaboration with Exakis Nelite using MigrationWiz to migrate 40,000 mailboxes from BPOS-D to Office 365 for French giant, Alstom.
